Funding is allocated through a competitive grant process by the Evergreen Board of Directors on a quarterly basis. The Foundation accepts applications at the end of each quarter on the fiscal year calendar: May, August, November, and February. Please check our home page for the deadline for the current quarter.
Priority areas include agencies serving persons with behavioral health, substance abuse or intellectual/developmental disabilities. Previous grantees have included agencies throughout the seven counties of Western North Carolina. Not-for-profit organizations with a 501 (C)3 or equivalent provision may apply. The Evergreen Foundation will not accept proposals from not-for-profit organizations providing pass through funds to ineligible organizations such as for-profits or private foundations. 2015-16 prevention priorities include evidence based programs addressing suicide prevention or prescription drug over dose prevention.
The Foundation makes annual commitments and there is no lower or upper limit on requests.
Complete all sections of the application and return a signed application via e-mail as an attachment to firstname.lastname@example.org. Please submit applications in a .doc or .pdf format. Also please submit a copy of your organization’s budget, the first two pages and Schedule A of your Form 990. These can be uploaded and sent with the application.

A signed copy of the grant application, whether electronic or hard copy, must be submitted by 5 p.m. of the due date for the applicable grant funding cycle.
A letter will be sent to all applicants advising of award or denial for each grant cycle following the meeting of the Board of Directors.
